BOORSE TOPS WOLVERINE OPENER

 Kokomo, IN, July 8, 1998 Dan Boorse easily out distanced the field to win the opening 25-lap Wolverine Mid-Season nationals feature Wednesday night at the Evans Kokomo Speedway. The event was sanctioned by the Badger Midget Series, NAMARS/Auto Valve Midget Series, and MARA Midget Series. Clay Klepper jumped into the lead at the start, the events only caution appeared on the second lap, when defending Badger Midget Series Champ Kevin Olson stalled. On the restart, Boorse shot around Klepper and into the lead. The pair began to pull away from the field. When Klepper retired on the ninth lap with engine problems, Boorse now held a 10 car length lead over Rick Treadway, Aaron Fiscus and Adam Clarke who started 15th. Boorse cruised unchalllenged and finished two seconds ahead of Treadway, Clarke and Fiscus. The four drivers earned starting positions for Friday’s feature. Roger Miller rounded out the top five.
