By Bryan Gapinski
SUN PRAIRIE, WI, June 25----Brandon Waelti scored a wire to wire victory, Sunday Night winning the 25-lap Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA) feature, at Angell Park Speedway. It was the first career feature win for the five year veteran, and came before a large hometown crowd.
Waelti jumped into the lead at the start closely followed by Critter Malone, and Roger Miller. Meanwhile three separate incidents kept the field bunched up. While Waelti pulled away from the field on each restart, and a great battle ranged for the next five positions. Defending series champ Dan Boorse quickly moved through the field from his 14th place starting position, and into third with five laps remaining, when the final caution for debris appeared.
On the restart Waelti held off Malone, and Boorse for the final five laps, with the top three separated by less than one second at the finish. Rounding out the top five were: Kevin Olson, and Miller. For Waelti, Malone, and Miller it marked their best career feature finish at the facility. Rookie sensation Craig Carey won the trophy dash, and Doug Schenck topped the 34 car field in qualifying.
