HINES NAILS DOWN BADGER ANGELL PARK 50 LAPPER
SUN PRAIRIE, WI, August 5----Tracy Hines won the 50-lap Badger Midget Series Feature, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. Hines becomes the fourth first time winner at the facility this season.
Polesitter Kevin Olson jumped into the lead at the start, and was closely followed by Aaron Fike. Hines moved into third on the eighth lap, and three car length separated the first three after ten laps. On the 13th circuit Hines passed Fike for second exiting the fourth turn, one lap later in nearly the same spot on the track Hines took the lead from Olson.
 Hines stretched his lead to nearly three seconds, when the caution was displayed for a stalled car, two laps before the mid-way point. After the restart Hines again pulled away, with Fike battling fast qualifier Davey Ray for second. The evenings second caution appeared for a stalled car on the 30th lap. Ray lined up behind Hines on the restart, and the pair waged an exciting duel for the lead, with Hines leading each lap at the line. Ray's engine began to miss slightly, allowing Hines to pull away.
Randy Fiscus hit the backstretch wall on the 41st lap, and executed a wild series of barrel roll flips. Dazed by the incident Fiscus walked to the rescue vehicle, and was transferred to University Hospital (Madison, WI), for further evaluation. On the restart Hines pulled away from the field and cruised unchallenged to the victory driving the Wilke/PAK owned Stealth-Fontana#11.
Ray, Fike, Aaron Fiscus, and Mike Hess rounded out the top five finishers. Ray, who also won the trophy dash, trimmed series point leader Dan Boorse's lead to 92 points. Boorse, had an eventful evening, suffering engine problems on the final lap of his heat race, finishing third. He switched to Jim Fiscus's #7X entry for the B-Main, and retired with an oil problems two laps from the finish. He then started the John Komppa #12 entry from the last row, finishing sixth.
A Badger/NAMARS co-sanctioned tripleheader is slated for this weekend, Friday Night August 10, at the Hales Corners Speedway (Franklin, WI), August 11 at the Raceway at Powercom Park (Beaver Dam, WI), and August 12 at Angell Park Speedway.
