HATTON DOMINATES CORNFEST ANGELL PARK EVENT
Sun Prairie, Wis, August 17---Scott Hatton dominated the action Sunday Night, winning the Cornfest 50-lap Badger Midget Series feature at Angell Park Speedway. The win was Hatton's second in Badger competition this season,and first at the facility.
Aaron Fiscus paced nine of the first ten laps of the event,which was slowed by three cautions for minor spins, and track debris. On the tenth lap restart Fiscus lost the lead to Mike Hess. Current series point leader Davey Ray passed Hess on the 13th lap for the lead. Ray began lapping the tail of the field when several slower cars tangled, fourth place running Chad DeSelle also was involved in the incident.
During the caution, while the track was being cleaned up, Ray stopped on the track with a broken fuel nozzle, retiring from the event. Hatton inherited the lead on the restart. Hatton began stretching his lead while a great battle between Aaron Fike, Mike Hess, and Dan Boorse took place behind Hatton. Hatton enjoyed a three second lead at the midway point. Hatton continued to pull away from the field putting on a driving clincic through lapped traffic.
Hatton driving the Dwight Huston owned Stealth-Mopar entry finished 9.14 seconds ahead of Fike. Hess, Fiscus, and Boorse were the only other drivers to complete the full distance. Ray holds a 173 point lead over Boorse with three events remaining. The series will visit the Raceway at PowerCom Park (Beaver Dam, WI), on Saturday August 23, before returning August 24 to Angell Park for a 25-lap event.
