Ray Leads All Laps At 'Prairie
Huston Clinches Title

Sun Prairie, Wis., August 22--Defending series champion Davey Ray scored a wire-to-wire victory capturing the 50-lap Badger Midget Series feature, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. Huston Solution Racing, owner of Scott Hatton's car have clinched the car owners championship for the season, with three races remaining. It is the second title for the Dwight Huston owned team.
Ray jumped into the field at the start, and by the fifth lap held a two second lead over Aaron Fiscus. On the eighth lap Jerry Coons Jr. moved into the top ten, after starting last in the event. Ray continued to hold a large advantage over Fiscus, Aaron Fike, and Scott Hatton. Hatton stalled on the 20th lap bringing out the first caution flag, and retired from the event.
Fike moved into second two laps after the restart, when another caution appeared for a stalled car on the 24th lap. Fike ran on Ray's bumper, passed Ray for the lead on the 32nd lap entering turn one, however before the lap
was completed third place Adam Clarke flipped, escaping injury. With scoring reversing to the last completed lap, Ray assumed the lead on the restart. Ray, and Fike, led Coons, and Brad Kuhn as the four ran a few cars lengths apart for the lead. Fike running second suffered a broken axle on the 38th lap, causing his wheel to come loose.
For the final 12 laps Coons ran on Ray's bumper, and made several attempts to pass Ray for the lead, but fell short by one car length at the finish, with Kuhn a close third place. John Jones, and Fiscus completed the top five. For Ray driving the Rajo-Wilke PAK/Stealth/Sesco-Mopar it was his fifth victory of the season, and collected $2,450 for his efforts.
The series makes their only appearance at The Raceway at PowerCom Park (Beaver Dam, Wis.) on Saturday August 28, before returning to Angell Park on August 29.
