Morgan shocks 'Prairie field for win

Sun Prairie, Wis., June 4-Oklahoma's Dustin Morgan scored a surprise upset victory capturing the 25-lap co-sanctioned Badger/POWRi Midget Series Feature Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The win came in Morgan's second ever appearance at the track, making him the youngest midget feature winner in the tracks 60-year history at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 25 days.
After a complete first lap restart, Morgan jumped into the lead followed by Nick Lundgreen and Scott Hatton. Morgan set a blistering pace running the cushion and held a near two-second lead when he began lapping the tail of the field on the eighth lap.
Morgan struggled the next few laps in heavy lapped traffic allowing Lundgreen and Hatton to close within a few car lengths. New Zealand's Stevie Walsh hit the wall exiting turn two on the 11th lap and flipped violently down the backstretch. Walsh was transported to a local hospital for a checkup before being released.
On the restart Morgan took command of the event, and held a narrow margin over Lundgreen and Hatton, with three car lengths separating the trio on the 18th lap. One lap later Morgan again found himself in lapped traffic. At the same time Hatton running third hit the frontstretch wall ending his day. Morgan set the pace on the restart to perfection and ran a flawless final five laps. 
Morgan driving the Kuhn Motorsports Stealth/Gaerte finished 0.623 seconds ahead of Lundgreen. Aaron Fiscus, Mike Hess and Jimi Quin completed the top five. Brad Kuhn holds a 25 point lead over Danny Stratton heading into the June 11 event at Angell Park Speedway.
