Doug Mowry (1933-2008) owner and driver of the #31 car (1956 – 1962), Passed away Wednesday evening March
12 at age 74.
After surviving a horrific accident at Angel Park in June 1959 he returned the following season to have his best record, finishing 8 in the point championship.
At the time of his death he and his sons were in the process of gathering parts and restoring the #31 car he raced and the #88 car.

Obituary
Douglas R. Mowry, age 74, a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha.
Douglas was born on August 19, 1933 to Charles and Evaughn (Balsley) Mowry in Rockport Missouri.
He was educated in the schools of Kenosha, and was part of the 1950 High School Championship Football Team. He played on the Racine Raiders Football team.
He joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea.
He married Mary Beers on October 5, 1957 in Beaver Dam Wisconsin.
He retired from the Kenosha Water Utility as a plant operator in 2001 and was previously employed by LeMay Auto Group as a auto technician. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha and an American Legion member. He was a member of BMARA (Badger Midget Auto Racing Association), and was a driver and car owner of #31 Midget sprint car from 1957 to 1963. He was a Boy Scout Leader from 1969 to 1974 for troops #23 and #523. He loved to go to the cabin in Tomahawk for fishing and family vacations. He enjoyed playing the piano and taking lessons from his daughter, bike riding, and working on restoring his vintage midget race cars with his sons.
He loved sharing his knowledge of life with his grandchildren and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Mary, two sons Michael (Janice), and Scott (Rena); one daughter Sharon (John) Daszczuk all of Kenosha; six grandchildren Douglas, Sara, Lisa, Sarah, Caren, and Nicholas; one sister Charlene (John) Meier of Surprise AZ; and further survived by his mother-in-law Mary C. Beers.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Evaughn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 5:00PM at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 3:00PM until the time of Mass. Burial will take place on Tuesday.
