By Bryan Gapinski Sun Prairie,Wis., June 28---Brad Loyet scored his fifth straight Badger Midget Series victory, Sunday Night, capturing the 25-lap feature at Angell Park Speedway. The victory tied the all-time consecutive Badger Midget feature victory mark, for the 21-year old Missouri driver.
Aaron Fiscus jumped into the lead at the start, with Loyet improving four positions on the opening lap moving into fourth place. Second place running Bubba Altig slowed on the third lap, bringing out the caution. Fiscus paced two more laps before Loyet took the lead, one lap later Fiscus spun running in second position.
Loyet continued his advantage, while fast qualifier Scott Hatton and Mike Hess waged a torrid battle for second place behind Loyet during the middle stages of the event. Hatton regained the second position and closed slightly on Loyet, when the event's fifth caution appeared, with two laps remaining. Hatton challenged Loyet on the restart, with Hess making a great pass for the runner-up position on the final lap. Loyet driving the Loyet Motorsports owned Spike/Ford-Esslinger No. 05, finished 1.1 seconds ahead of Hess, followed by Hatton, Chad DeSelle and Matt Smith.
Hatton who earlier in the evening won the $750 Dash for Cash event holds a 23-point advantage over Loyet heading into the next series event on July 3 "The Mid State Equipment Sue Thiel Memorial" at Dodge County Fairgrounds (Beaver Dam, Wis.). A victory in the Dodge County race would give Loyet six straight series feature victories establishing the longest streak in the 73-year history of the organization. The series will complete the two-race weekend at Angell Park Speedway on July 5. In the Angell Park event Loyet will be seeking his fifth straight victory at the track, three short of the record co-held by Billy Johnson and Stan Fox.
