Emotional win for Altig at Macon
Macon, Ill, June 23---Bubba Altig won the 30-lap POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget and Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series co-sanctioned feature, Saturday Night at Macon Speedway. The victory moved Altig atop the Badger points after seven races.
Altig started on the pole, leading the entire and was never seriously threatened. Altig driving the D & I Motorsports owned Spike/Fontana No. 19 finished five car lengths of Rico Abreu, with Austin Brown, Shane Hollingsworth and Andrew Felker completing the top five. Altig dedicated his victory to late car owner Howard Davis, who died in April. "Howard was our co-owner with Rick Imhoff and we really miss him," Altig said. "This win was for Howard and to get this win for him is really special."
Altig holds a 50-point lead over Danny Stratton heading into the July 8 co-sanctioned event with the USAC National Midget Series at Angell Park (Sun Prairie, Wis.) Speedway.
