Hatton Continues Badger Dominance

Scott HattonBy Bryan Gapinski Sun Prairie, Wis., July 18, 2004--Scott Hatton continued his dominating season capturing the 25-lap Badger Midget Series Feature. The win was his fourth of the season victory of the season. Hatton has finishes of second, third, and sixth in the three features he has failed to win this season.
Five cautions slowed the first eleven laps, with David Gough pacing the opening lap before Randy Koch moved into third. Hatton quickly moved from his ninth place starting position. On the sixth lap Hatton passed Dan Boorse for second place, and one lap later moved around Koch entering the third turn. On the tenth lap attention turned to Mike Hess who started in 19th position, and moved into seventh spot.
John Jones escaped injury in a flip on the 13th lap. On the restart Hatton easily pulled away from the field, while Hess charged past four more cars in the next two laps. Hatton driving the Huston Solution Racing/Stealth-Mopar spent the final five laps of the event lapping slower cars, and finished 4.12 seconds ahead of Brandon Waelti, Hess, Koch, and A.J. Fike. Hatton holds a 164 point lead over Davey Ray heading into the July 25 event at the facility.
Tate Martz won the 30-lap USAC Ford Focus Midwest series feature taking the lead on the 14th lap. Following Martz were: Brad Loyet, Rex Norris III, Mike Palmer, and Brandon Hartsell.
