Fifth Win Extends Hatton Point Lead
Sun Prairie, Wis., July 31, 2005-Defending series champion Scott Hatton scored a wire-to-wire victory in the 25-lap Badger Midget Series feature, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway.
Hatton made a brilliant opening lap move which saw him advance from fifth place to the lead by the time he exited turn four. Hatton increased his lead each lap while close racing ensued behind him. Hatton enjoyed a 1.8 second lead when he began lapping the tail of the field at the midway point.
Caution was displayed for a stalled car on lap 15 bunching up the field. On the restart Davey Ray passed Danny Stratton for second, with Brad Kuhn following. Hatton appeared headed for an easy victory, when debris was spotted on the track surface, with three laps remaining.
On the restart Hatton held off Ray and Kuhn to score his fifth victory of the season driving the Huston Solution Racing Stealth/Mopar#15. Australian Darren Jenkins in his first appearance at he track finished fourth ahead of Nick Lundgreen. Hatton currently holds a 109 point lead over Danny Stratton heading into the Aug. 6 event at Wilmot (Wis.) Speedway before returning to Angell Park on Aug. 7.
