Kuhn remains perfect in Badger Midgets
By Bryan Gapinski Sun Prairie, Wis., June 10, 2007---Brad Kuhn won his fourth straight Badger Midget Series Sunday Night, capturing the 30-lap feature at Angell Park Speedway. A feature victory next Sunday at the track would tie him with John Hartwig for the most consecutive wins to start a season in the organization's 71-year history. Hartwig set the mark during his 1973 championship season.
Jake Slotten flipped on the opening lap of the feature escaping injury, causing a complete restart. Mike Hess jumped into the lead, with Kuhn moving into fourth place on the second circuit. The caution was displayed twice during the next two laps when the
top five running cars of Danny Stratton and Scott Hatton both stopped on the track.
On the fifth lap Kuhn moved into second place, the pair pulled away from the field. Kuhn pulled to Hess's back bumper on the tenth lap, and took the lead when the pair crossed the start/finish line on the 12th lap. At the midway point Kuhn began lapping slower cars.
The events final caution came two laps later for a stalled car. On the restart Kuhn quickly pulled away from the field increasing
his lead each lap. Despite running in heavy lapped traffic the final five laps, Kuhn driving the Michael Quin owned Stealth-Mopar
finished 6.16 seconds ahead of Hess at the finish. Completing the top five were: Brandon Waelti, Hatton who restarted 20th on the fourth lap, and fast qualifier Davey Ray.
