Hess captures non-stop Badger Midget feature

By Bryan Gapinski Sun Prairie, Wis., July 12, 2009---Defending Series Champion Mike Hess captured the 25-lap Badger Midget Series Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The event went caution-free and nearly broke the existing eight year-old track record, falling short by less than one second. 
Aaron Fiscus jumped into the lead at the start, and pulled to a two-car length advantage over Scott Hatton after five laps. Fiscus maintained a fast pace running the high side of the track. Fiscus and Hatton led a six-car breakaway from the field. At the midway point seven car lengths separated the top six.
Hatton surrender two positions to Hess and Brad Loyet one lap later, falling to fourth place. Hess closed on Fiscus, and on lap 17 Fiscus jumped the cushion giving Hess the lead. Fiscus attempted to regain the lead but his attempt fell short. Hess then began increasing his lead each lap. On lap 23 Loyet moved into second place. Hess driving the Jerry Hardy owned Buzzard/Hawk No. 1 finished two seconds ahead of Loyet, Hatton, Fiscus and Chad DeSelle. 
"We've been close the last few weeks, its great to get another victory this season" commented Hess whose only other victory this season came in the season opening event. Hatton now holds a 94-point lead over Brad Loyet in series points heading into the July 19 event at Angell Park Speedway.
