Win for Knepper at Belle-Clair

Popular hometown victory for second generation driver

Belleville, Ill., July 1---Hometown driver Nick Knepper made a last-lap pass, winning Friday Night's 30-lap POWRi Lucas Oil Nat'l Midget/ Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series co-sanctioned feature at Belle-Clair Speedway.
Badger points leader Bubba Altig paced the initial three laps from the pole, before being passed by Knepper. Felker who started seventh passed Knepper for the lead on the tenth circuit. Felker held the top position until the final lap.
Running the outside line, Knepper passed Felker, running the inside, exiting Turn 2 and won by four-car lengths. "I didn't give up on the cushion," Knepper said. "The last time through One and Two was my best corner of the whole race. We just shot off.. I ran it as hard as I possibly could."
Knepper driving the Walter Knepper owned Spike/Ford-Esslinger No. 55 finished ahead of Felker, Brad Kuhn who started tenth, Mike Hess and Altig. The victory increased Knepper's POWRi Series points lead heading into the second night of the FanFest presented by Budweiser at Belle-Clair Speedway on Saturday.
