Looking for a few parts for my vintage midget restoration:
Factor 1 micro sprint car for rent or rent to own.
Race ready with plenty of spare parts. Suzuki GSXR 600 with Hyper injection. Torsion rear and springs on the front. All springs on dyno this winter. Very good starter car and easy to set up. Seat and suit included in rental. $400 a night and you keep your purse money.
For Sale: Early 80's Midget
The Kurtis 500 Super, first. Difficult to date precisely - it's a 1958 or '59 four-bar 1/4 midget built by Frank and his merry men, including Art Ingels, then an employee. [ Ingels simplified the whole 1/4 midget concept to come up with Go-Kart #1, in 1957. ]
Car is a California-built Kurtis-Kraft - it pre-dates Ralph Potter's ownership of the Kurtis 1/4 mfg business, in Indianapolis 1961. Found largely intact in British Columbia in 2005 and restored as-raced. Missing parts: nerf bars, upholstery, steering wheel. These parts were re-made. All else is original, including the Margay wheels and original racing rubber. Bumpers required repair, but they are original. Fresh chrome at restoration. Period-correct hood scallop. Parallel torsion bars are all adjustable, with 4 friction shocks . Powder-coated frame, two-stage paint, chrome roll bar, disk brake/mechanical caliper, original hardware where savable. No car number or decals, sold as a roller. I did a similar Potter Kurtis 1/4 (in yellow) about the same time. After I sold it, the car went to the Mecum Monterey auction and sold for $12,500. I certainly didn't benefit. Price on this one is $7700. Stock Continental engine included, race engine is extra.
Second car is a one-off, best effort inspired by the 50's roadsters of A.J. Watson, Bruce Bromme, and Doug Caruthers. Car is a scratchbuilt with a 2-piece, 'slipper' fiberglass body (nose and tail), tube spaceframe (powder-coated), solid-mounted axles, on a 53" wheelbase. Rack-and-pinion steering (one turn, lock to lock), with a mechanical disk brake in back. Faux shocks, 4:1 header, and oil tank. Hand-lettered except for the Bowes decals on the hood and dash decals (photo reductions of gauges from the Indy Museum). Two-stage urethane paint. Wheels are 8" steel rims, not the typical 6" wheels on most 1/4 and 1/2 midgets. Halibrand-style wheel covers/knockoffs are 1/2 scale, period-correct replicas done in fiberglass. Roller with plenty of room in the tail for a 125 cc 4-sp Honda clone ($500 new on eBay). Dropped floorpan, cockpit allows a 6-foot driver. $7500. Construction photos on tap.
Pacemaker quarter midget
Built in 1957 [Track Master Inc., Van Nuys, CA]. Car was done 2 yrs ago, but chrome parts just went for
Two exceptions on the car: 1) modern 6" steel wheels in front with re-popped knock-offs and wheel-covers, spun of aluminum to mimic the Moss set-up, and 2) a one-off finned aluminum grill. Rears are period correct die cast aluminum wheels. $5500, as a roller.
A non-running, period-correct Continental 6:1 display motor is included. [ Also available: an original race engine, period-correct, "Kong" conversion of a Continental 6:1 engine built by Luther Engrg. - the stock Continental parts included. Add $800. ]
Yellow 2-stage paint, scallops on the front, no decals or car number. Had a cage once, but I just couldn't do it....
The car is a restored original - not an assembly of mis-matched or re-made pieces. Cross-leaf independent front, parallel torsion rear, mechanical disk brake.

Vintage Midget For Sale
The car is an Edmonds copy built in the 60's. A cage was added sometime in the 70's. The car ran competively up till 1990. It has a 181 cu. in. Chevy II engine runs on alcohol, hilborn injection, vertex mag, halibrand rear end, in & out box, tri-drive on the front of the engine runs all of the pumps. It has a spring front end suspension and a half bar rear. It has a right hand weight jacker. I have about 15 sets of gears, dirt and asphalt tires and wheels to go with it. Chassis and motor have won features at the prestigious Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie. Last full-season campaigned, the current package won a fast Dash at the track and recorded a second place feature finish! A couple years ago, HoF member Kevin Olson had a good run going at Tulsa, before one of the tight-corner incidents derailed the event.
Frame has been worked on by winning "crew chief"/championship car builder John Callahan of Buzzard chassis. Engine was rebuilt at shop Steve Smith of Hawk engines spent time. It was most recently freshened by JAMR Racing Engines (midget racing accomplishments include former SP Fast Time and multiple pavement wins/championships, including USAC feature) Newer Gen2 KSE Steering gear. Direct-mount front hubs/wheels. "Double-bearing" style RR birdcage. Lighter-weight oil lines and newer fittings. Wilwood brake calipers.
Safety seat available, or we can install yours. A couple extra "sissy bars" around the cage for added safety. Titanium U-joint shield. One of the few national midgets still running the driver can see the front wheels!
Plenty of room on body panels for your sponsors/team numbers/designs (as simple as applying your stickers/even car number can be ordered). Willing to work with your set-up suggestions (no egos here!) and/or will make every effort to prepare to our best ability. On site track tools and all the spare parts/set-up chassis options we have will be hauled to the track. Car is available for pre-event inspection/"fitting" 90 miles West of Chicago, just below the IL/WI border (4 mins from Rockford Speedway).
