"Ray repeats at Angell Park" "Probst captures The Badger State Midget Showdown Crown”

Sun Prairie, Wis., June 9---For the second consecutive week Davey Ray won the 20-lap Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series feature Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The event capped off the three-race "The Badger State Midget Showdown”, which also included series events at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday and the Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday.

The event got off to a “rocky” start as polesitter Kevin Olson flipped on the opening lap, causing a complete restart. Jack Routson paced the first two laps, before Ray took the lead exiting Turn 2. Ryan Probst passed Routson for second place, two laps later. Ray began lapping the tail of the field at the midway point. One lap later the event was stopped when Jeremy Douglas flipped on the backstretch, escaping injury.

Probst challenged Ray on the restart. Ray running the cushion was ready for the challenge and held off Probst. Probst kept Ray “close” but couldn’t put together another challenge for the lead. Ray driving the Mark Ray owned DRC/Honda No.3 finished 1.089 seconds ahead of Probst, Zach Boden, Scott Hatton, and Chase McDermand.

“The fast way around was on the narrow cushion; Angell Park teaches you how to run in lapped traffic” commented Ray who won his sixth feature in six starts for the team dating back to last season. “We didn’t have enough for Davey, but two second places in two nights is good for our team” commented Probst who earned The Badger State Midget Showdown Championship, by scoring 245 points in the three races, six more than Boden, Routson, Hatton and McDermand completed the top five.

Routson leads McDermand by thirty one-points entering the June 22-23 doubleheader which sees the series visit Sycamore (Ill.) Speedway on Saturday Night June 22, followed by Sunday Night June 23 at Angell Park Speedway.
