Thomas Nearly Sweeps Badger Event at Angell Park Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (July 29, 2014) – Tyler Thomas was so close to a clean sweep at Angell Park Speedway he could almost taste it.

Thomas won everything but the feature last Sunday during the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association event, where he drove for Hans Lein.

“I can’t thank Hans and his whole crew enough for all the hard work they put into their program,” Thomas said. “It was definitely my best night I’ve had at Angell Park. The car was really good all night.”

Thomas set quick time in qualifying and he then used the same move to charge from fourth place into the lead in both his heat race and the dash. After winning both races Thomas pulled the No. 6 for the feature inversion, which lined him up on the outside of the third row for the 30-lap main event.

“I jumped to fourth on the first lap,” he said. “It took me about 15 laps to get to second. Once I got to second Austin (Brown) had checked out. We had a late yellow with seven laps to go and the motor stumbled on the start. He pulled away and I wasn’t able to make up any ground.”

Thomas finished with a second-place result, which was his 12th top five of the season.

He is scheduled to take this weekend off before returning to pavement on Aug. 9 at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. He will wrap up that weekend the following day with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series race at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill.
