BMARA Record Purse Up for Grabs at K.O. Klassic
How do you appropriately honor a Five-Time Badger Midget Champion, Two-Time USAC National Midget Champion and National Midget Hall of Famer like Kevin “K.O.” Olson? Some would say it’s impossible to do a larger-than-life figure like K.O. justice, but the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association and Angell Park Speedway will do just that this Sunday night at the famed “Red and White Walls”, with one of the largest A Main purse in the series’ long and storied history.
BMARA Series officials and numerous sponsors and supporters have come together to raise over $10,000 for Sunday’s Badger Midget A Main purse, and with the Lap Leader money added in, the total purse for the K.O. Klassic is expected to be upwards of a whopping $15,000. One lucky driver will walk away with not one, but two custom Feature Winner Trophies.
With the increased purse and the air of prestige around winning the Inaugural K.O. Klassic, one big name has already announced their entry into Sunday’s event. 10x Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints Champion and 3x All Star Circuit of Champions Feature Winner Bill Balog will pilot a Bill Ecker owned RAB Racing midget in his first return to the series since the “North Pole Nightmare” took victory in 2019 at Beaver Dam Raceway. In limited starts, Balog has already claimed seven career BMARA A Main wins, including a second place points finish in 2015. Bill will take on Badger Midget regulars such as current series Points Leader Kyle Stark, former feature winner and regular contender Zach Boden, weekly front-runner Todd Kluever, red-hot youngster Daltyn England, most recent series A Main winner Nick Baran, and more.
The BMARA FanClub along with Oliver Motors will be hosting a “KO” Klassic tailgate party starting at 2:00PM in the upper parking lot at Angell Park. Several cars that Kevin raced will be on display, as well as several items from his career.
The stars and cars of the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series will join in on the fun to make Sunday, June 26th an absolute must see for race fans of all ages. Pit Gates will open at approximately 1:30PM, with Grandstands opening at 4:00PM, and racing action set to get underway at 6:00PM. Tickets will be available at the track or through the Ticket Hoss app. If you can’t make it out to the track, Sunday’s events will be broadcast LIVE on the FloRacing streaming service.
