Fireworks Set for Both On and Off Track This Sunday at Angell Park
After a fantastic outing last Sunday at the K.O. Klassic, the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Series returns this weekend with another exciting night of racing in store at legendary Angell Park Speedway.
This Sunday, July 3rd will be the annual Fireworks Celebration at the Speedway, and the AFS Badger Midgets will once again take center stage as the 2022 season nears the halfway point. Todd Kluever currently sits atop the series Point Standings, with one A Main victory to his credit along with five Top 5’s and seven Top 10’s. However, two hard charging drivers have kept the fight close all season, with Kyle Stark just 23 points behind Kluever, and perennial contender Zach Boden only 39 points out of the lead. Daltyn England and RJ Corson round out the Top 5. The trio of Stark, Boden and Corson are all seeking their first Badger A Main triumph of 2022 heading into this Sunday’s action, with both Kluever and England earning one Feature win each so far this season.
Running a part time schedule in 2022, Adam Taylor advanced to 16th in series points with his thrilling victory in last week’s green to checkered K.O. Klassic feature. Taylor is expected to return with his 5X machine to Sun Prairie, WI this Sunday, along with Angell Park’s season opener winner Brandon Waelti’s 3B, as well as former series’ Championship runner-up Jack Routson in the RAB Racing 57.
In addition to the stars of the Badger Midgets, the Wisconsin WingLESS Sprint Series will join the action to make Sunday an all "open wheel" showdown at The Prairie, with fireworks sure to be on and off track. Pit Gates will open at approximately 2:00PM, with Grandstands opening at 4:00PM, and opening ceremonies set to get underway at 6:00PM. Tickets will be available at the track or through the Ticket Hoss app.
