Badger Welcomes Eric Huenefeld to the Mic in 2024
The New Year brings with it a new sound for the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association.
Veteran auto racing announcer Eric Huenefeld has been tabbed to be the new voice of The AFS Badger Midget Series beginning when the green flag flies at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday night April 20.
Huenefeld brings 24 years of announcing experience to Badger, having got his start at age 15 at the since-shuttered Freeport (IL) Raceway Park. Through the years, the Dakota Illinois native has announced races at 71 tracks in 15 different states and has lent his voice to the USAC National Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown tours, ARCA Racing Series and the Dirtcar Summernationals. Huenefeld was also the long-time voice of Rockford (IL) Speedway, which closed its doors this past October.
Aside from his duties at BMARA, Huenefeld continues to work at Lafayette County Speedway (Darlington WI) and travels with the ASA Midwest Tour Super Late Model Series. Since 2021, the 39-year-old has also been one of the PA voices of Worldwide Technology Raceway in Madison Illinois, helping bring the action to life for that facilities’ NASCAR and IndyCar weekends.
“I’m pumped to get to work calling the action for Badger,” Huenefeld said. “Quinn McCabe and his whole team have done such a great job with the series over the last few years…great numbers…talented drivers…exciting racing! I’m proud to be part of the tradition of Badger and I hope I can make the drivers and the fans proud when the season gets going in April.”
