B.M.A.R.A. TIMELINE
1936: Badger is formed in late 1935, and chartered as Wisconsin Racing
Association(WRA), Carl Marchese is the President. Ted Tetterson wins the first WRA driving
title.
1938: Ray Richards wins his second straight WRA
title. WRA changes name to Badger Midget Auto Racing Association(BMARA) to avoid conflict
with Marchese's group that has a similar name, promoting races at the Wisconsin State Fair
Park.
1946: First year of racing after end of World War
II. Angell Park is redesigned from 1/2-mile to 1/3-mile, John Martin wins the Badger
title.
1948-1953: Billy Johnson, and Miles Melius each
claim two Badger titles, and dominate competition. The pair later combine to win 26 track
championships racing Modifieds in Wisconsin.
1954-1960: Kenosha's Billy Wood wins six Badger
titles over a seven year period.
1961-1968: The Paul Krueger owned Dari-Kool
sponsored cars win six Badger titles, with drivers Billy Wood, Keith Thomas, and Ron
Erfurth.
1965: Jigger Siros driving the Frank Kater-Buick#77
wins the 100-mile Badger event at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.
1972: Owen Snyder racing under the alias Todd Barton
wins his third Badger title, as regular weekly Badger racing returns to Angell Park.
1973-1978: John Heisdorf owned cars win four Badger
titles, with John Hartwig('73), Bob Walldan('74), Dave Ray('77), and Ken Biertzer('78)
driving. They also finish 1-2 in points in '74 & '78.
1979: Stan Fox wins nine straight Angell Park
features, twelve overall to win the Badger title.
1982: Paul Clark wins the Badger driving title,
while Wilke Racers claim first car owner title. Forty-three drivers flip during season
which sees Don Boorse, Randy Koch, Dean Erfurth, and Charlie Ford all suffer serious
injuries.
1983: Badger returns to the Milwaukee Mile, with
Stan Fox edging Greg Nelson for the win. Nelson wins four of the first five Angell Park
events on his way to the title.
1984-1985: Dan Boorse claims back to back titles, by
winning 12 features, including the Pepsi Nationals, and Badger's Milwaukee Mile event.
1987-1988: Kevin Olson driving the Wilke
Racers-Cosworth twin back to back titles, they dominate competition over the 30 races
scoring 14 feature wins 24 top five finishes, and leading 352 feature laps.
1989: Kevin Olson driving for Jim Fiscus & Jerry
Smith wins his third straight Badger title. Olson also turns the first sub 15 second
qualifying lap in Angell Park history.
1990: Dean Erfurth replaces Kevin Olson as driver of
the # 7and edges Dan Boorse for title by 12 points. Rich Vogler wins his last Angell Park
feature in May, and Jeff Gordons runs three Badger events winning one, and finishing
second in another.
1991: Randy Koch wins first of three titles, by
finishing all 15 features in top 10, and completing 99.7% of all laps, despite never
winning or leading a feature event..
1992: Randy Koch wins second straight title. Tina
Davis captures Car Owner title, making her first female Badger champion. Badger run their
first ever indoor event, in January at the Milwaukee Arena.
1993 & 1995: Dan Boorse wins nine features, and
two Rich Vogler All-Star Races on' his way to his third, and fourth career Badger titles.
1994: Kevin Doty wins eleven features, 17
preliminary races, and leads 220 feature laps on way to his first career Badger title.
1996: Badger celebrates 60th season of midget
racing, making it the longest active running organization in the country, In dramatic
fashion Randy Koch wins his third title by winning season finale Pepsi nationals.
