“Gerrits tops Angell Park micro field” “Fourth victory increases points lead”
Will Gerrits won the 15-lap Badger 600 Micro Series presented by My Race Pass feature, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway.
Three divisions highlighted the evening’s racing, with Robert Ballou winning the 30-lap USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series feature and Corey Apfelbeck topping the 20-lap Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series feature.
Andy Rein jumped into the lead at the start while Gerrits passed four cars in the first two laps moving into third place. Gerrits moved into second place on Lap 7, and one lap later took the lead from Rein.
Once in the lead Gerrits began increasing his lead each lap. Rein, and Tory Strauss battled for runner-up honors the remainder of the event. Gerrits finished 3.91 seconds ahead of Rein, Strauss, Zach Boden, and Tyler Brabant.
“The car was great all night, and got faster as the race continued” commented Gerrits who increased his series points lead, with his fourth feature victory of the season.
The Badger 600 micro season continues on Saturday Night Aug. 15 at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway. The next event at Angell Park will be Sunday Aug. 23 the Miller Lite Cornfest featuring The IRA Bumper to Bumper Outlaw Sprint Cars Series. Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Racing Series, and the Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series.
